If you weren't sure or didn't know, we're here to change that. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! You probably knew, but we're talking about it anyways.
Now, we're definitely no doctors or experts but it's important to stay educated about breast cancer in order to possibly prevent and early detect any signs. So, we did some reading and learned a few things from a couple of sources.
Did you know?
- One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime
- All women are at risk, though the risk increases with age
- Regular self-examinations can detect breast cancer early with a higher rate of a successful treatment
- Exercise reduces breast cancer risk of all body types!
How to Check Ya'self
Again, we're no doctors - but we found this very informational graphic made by some that we thought was very helpful:
See? So easy.
Now to the fun part:
Join us at The Plymouth, Saturday, October 13th for a fun event with a great cause. It'll be a morning yoga flow courtesy of Maham Yoga followed by healthy bites from The Plymouth Grill, pop-up shops, dog adoptions + all things wellness.
A little about The AiRS Foundation:
They are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing breast reconstruction to women who have had a mastectomy due to breast cancer but cannot afford the procedure. The foundation advocates for and educates women about their options for breast reconstruction after breast cancer and offer funding for breast cancer reconstruction, as well as education for physicians and the medical communities, mastectomy patients, caregivers and advocacy organizations.
Hope to see you there!
But if you can't make it and still want to get involved, pitch in here!
