One of our own babes, co-founder/owner of ishine365 Christina Pino & her beau recently spent a magical weekend in the island of Staniel Cay (we’re so jelly) ☀️
Read all about her trip + your full guide to Exumas below
Staniel Cay, an island part of the Exumas in the Bahamas, is hands down one of the prettiest places we’ve ever seen. The water is so clean and clear, the people are happy, friendly and full of life and the food and drinks are super fresh and delicious. The surrounding islands are full adventures and site seeing, which makes it a great destination for friends, couples and families to visit.
What To Do
See the swimming pigs (duh) on pig island. Make sure to take the piggies some treats and watch them swim up to you and your boat. Be careful with the larger ones when feeding them, they can bite and be over protective of the babies. Get your camera ready, this is definitely a pic hot spot!
Swim with the nurse sharks in Compass Cay. These gentle babes are used to having people swim with them so don’t be scared, dive in! There is a $10 fee and they only take cash.
Feed the albino iguanas on Iguana Island and swim in crystal blue water. Like the pigs and nurse sharks, these iguanas are used to people coming to see them so they will run up to you as soon as you arrive. The island is empty and extremely relaxing to go swimming.
Thunderball grotto is a beautiful cave in front of Staniel Cay that is perfect for diving. Make sure to go during low tide so you can go to the middle of the cave and see tons of different sea life.
Explore, explore, explore, there are hundreds of little islands all around which are all beautiful!
Where To Stay
I would recommend staying at Staniel Cay Yacht Club which is a marina and small hotel which consists of little different colored bungalows on the water. I would definitely get the inclusive package which includes 3 delicious meals a day and a small boat to go exploring.
Another option is renting a beautiful house from These gorgeous houses can be seen on their famous Instagram @stanielrents.
Where To Eat:
The main and only restaurant is at Staniel Cay Yacht Club and the food is delicious. They also offer a take out lunch if you are spending your day island hopping. Dinner has two seatings, 6:30 and 8:30pm and needs to be booked ahead of time that day. There is also a cute bar connected to the restaurant to hang out and have some drinks.
How To Get There
There are daily flights leaving Fort Lauderdale, Florida via The planes are small propeller planes and the flight usually take about an hour and forty minutes.
What To Pack
Bikinis and swim shorts. Ladies leave the heals at home, you’ll only need your flats. Take some mosquito repellent and sunscreen and your favorite hat. Pack at a minimal!
